The One · 2026

Every year, one Irish charity gets a website worth having. Free.

Nominated by the community. Built by me. Theirs to keep.

Why I do this

I build websites for a living. Once a year, I give one away.

Not purely out of charity — I'll be honest, it helps a young business build a name. But mostly because the groups doing the most good in Ireland — the clubs, the shelters, the rescues, the volunteer checking in on someone who'd otherwise see nobody all week — are so often stuck with a slow, broken website nobody has the time or money to fix.

That's backwards. The people giving the most should have tools that work.

So I made it a yearly thing, and I called it The One. One group, every year, chosen with the community's help — built properly, for free.

How The One works

  1. 1

    Nominate

Anyone can put a group forward — a charity, a club, a community group. You don't have to be involved with them. A few honest lines is plenty.

  2. 2

    The pick

I read every nomination and choose the one where a proper website would make the biggest difference — leaning toward the causes closest to me.

  3. 3

    The build

I build them a fast, findable website, free — theirs to own, no monthly fees — and it goes on the record below for everyone to see.

One free website, every year. Plus a reduced rate for other Irish charities and community groups the rest of the year.

Close to me

The causes I'll always make room for

If a nomination is in one of these, it has my heart already — but every genuine Irish community group is welcome, whatever the cause.

  • Mental health
  • Addiction & recovery
  • Homelessness
  • Suicide prevention
  • Special-needs & inclusive sport
  • Elderly isolation
  • Animal welfare & rescue
  • Humanitarian support for Palestine

Your part

Nominate a group

Know a charity, club or community group that does real good and is stuck with a bad website — or none at all? Put them forward. You don't have to be involved with them. A few lines is plenty, and it genuinely makes a difference to who gets picked.

Goes straight to me. I read every one.

Straight answers

Who can be nominated?

Any Irish charity, community group, club, Tidy Towns committee, Men's Shed, festival, animal rescue or social enterprise doing genuine local good with little or no budget. You don't have to be involved with them yourself — if you know a group that deserves it, put them forward.

Is it really free?

Yes. One group a year gets a full website, free — the same standard as my paying work, theirs to own, with no monthly fees. For other charities and community groups during the year, I offer a reduced rate rather than a full free build.

What's the catch?

There isn't a hidden one. I'll be straight: it helps a young business build a name, and it helps a group that needs it. All I'd ask is a short testimonial and a small “Built for good — Dave Coleman” credit in the footer. Welcome, not compulsory.

How is the group chosen?

I read every nomination. I weigh the good a group does, how much a proper website would change things for them, and whether they've someone who can give a little time to the build. I lean toward the causes closest to me, but every genuine nomination is read and considered.

What's included in the build?

A fast, mobile-friendly website (typically up to five pages), local SEO so people can find them, a contact form, and a guide so they can update it themselves. A fixed scope with a clear finish line, agreed up front. They own everything afterwards.

That's The One. Nominate a group →
