The problem
SEAI grants for wall insulation are worth up to €8,000 but most Irish homeowners do not know they qualify
The SEAI Better Energy Homes scheme covers cavity wall, external wall, and dry-lining insulation. Grants range from €1,700 to €8,000. Most homes built before 2011 are eligible, with no income test. Yet homeowners routinely miss out because the information is buried across the SEAI website, and finding a registered contractor involves navigating a raw register that was never designed for consumers.
Existing insulation directories in Ireland either gate grant information behind contact forms, push homeowners toward a single comparison service, or list contractors with no verification. None of them give a clear, instant answer to the question homeowners actually ask: do I qualify, and who should I call?
The gap was a free, independent resource: grant eligibility in plain terms, all 550+ SEAI-approved contractors browseable by county, and the practical guides needed to make an informed decision.
What I built
A grant-first directory built around how homeowners actually make this decision
550+ SEAI contractor profiles, 26 counties
Every contractor registered under the SEAI Better Energy Homes scheme for wall insulation, with an individual profile page per contractor showing their services, location, contact details, and an SEO-optimised content block tailored to their county and insulation type.
County directory pages with lead content
A dedicated landing page for each of the 26 counties, showing local contractor counts broken down by insulation type, grant amounts, and original introductory copy driven by live data. No two county pages have the same content.
A 3-step grant checker tool
Three questions: year built, home type, wall type. Instant results showing which SEAI grants apply and the exact amounts. No account creation, no form gate, no sales call required. Designed to convert the homeowner who is still in research mode.
8 editorial guides covering the full decision journey
From cost comparisons and insulation type explainers to the step-by-step SEAI grant application process. Each guide targets a specific search query and links back into the contractor directory, creating a natural funnel from research to contact.
Profile claim system for contractors
Unclaimed profiles are marked clearly with a banner and a sidebar card explaining what is missing. A mailto CTA lets any contractor claim their listing with one click. This creates an ongoing lead generation system that rewards the site as it grows.
Structured data and SEO architecture
Every page is built with JSON-LD structured data, a clear heading hierarchy, and internal linking that flows authority from guides to county pages to contractor profiles. The site was designed to rank on keyword-level queries before it had a single backlink.
Grant checker
Three questions. Instant eligibility.
The grant checker gives homeowners a personalised result in under a minute with no account, no form, and no sales call. It is the only free SEAI grant tool of its kind in the Irish insulation market.
The SEO architecture
584 pages. Every one with a distinct search purpose.
The 584 pages break down into four content tiers: 8 editorial guides targeting informational queries, 26 county pages targeting commercial queries, 550+ contractor profiles targeting name and local queries, and a grant checker landing page targeting decision-stage queries. Each tier feeds the next.
No two pages share the same copy. County pages are generated from live contractor data, so the content on the Cork page differs from the Dublin page in contractor counts, wall type breakdowns, and introductory paragraphs. Contractor profiles each have an individually generated content block naming the company, county, and grant amounts relevant to their services.
Technical decisions
584 unique pages built and deployed in under 2 seconds
site static generation at scale
All 584 pages build in under 700ms from a structured JSON dataset. The entire site deploys to a VPS in seconds. No CMS, no runtime queries, no infrastructure to maintain. A homeowner in Leitrim gets the same fast response as one in Dublin.
Data-driven unique content
County pages and contractor profiles use live contractor data to generate unique introductory copy, wall type breakdowns, and grant information. Identical copy across 26 county pages is a Google ranking penalty. Every page earns its own distinct content through the data layer, not manual writing.
The dangling carrot profile model
Every contractor gets a profile page populated with SEAI register data. Unclaimed profiles show what is missing: no logo, no phone number, no website link, no reviews. A sidebar claim card explains the value of upgrading. This gives contractors a reason to engage without any outbound sales required.
Grant checker without a form gate
Most Irish insulation sites gate grant information behind a quote request or contact form. The wallinsulationireland.ie grant checker gives the result instantly and for free. This is the differentiator that earns trust and return visits, and it is the kind of tool homeowners share and link to.
